Sciatica

WHAT IS SCIATICA?

Sciatica is a term used to describe irritation of the sciatic nerve.

The nerve itself begins in the lower back, formed by several nerve roots as they exit the spine.

Once formed, the sciatic nerve runs just in front of the SI joint, to the buttock & down the back of the leg, eventually branching off into nerves that supply the front & back of the lower leg, ankle, & foot.

UNLIKE ANYTHING THE EARTH HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE

Homo sapiens, the planet’s only species of human has been around for roughly 250,000 years. What’s striking is that you could argue that our environment has changed more in the last 50 than it has in those 250,000.

  • The Light Bulb was invented in 1880, but it wasn’t until after World War II that it became the mass produced, affordable, ubiquitous light source it is today. Prior to this our days stopped & started with the sun.

And it’s no coincidence that countries where sleep time has declined most dramatically over the past century, such as the US, the UK, Japan, and South Korea, and several in western Europe, are also the ones suffering the greatest increase in rates of the chronic diseases and mental disorders.
